You know, I’ve given Mooney and Kirshenbaum a lot of shit lately over what I feel is their misguided attacks on religious critics among the scientific community, but at the end of the day, they are generally good skeptical science writers.
So when the cranks over at Age of Autism attack them, I have to hit back. Criticizing Mooney and Kirshenbaum is my job, mother fuckers. . .as well as the job of PZ Myers and Jerry Coyne and other science bloggers who actually give a shit about science. For the few disagreements that we have with Mooney & Kirshenbaum, at least they’re in the club of people who passionately care about science and promoting good science to the masses, which is more than I can say for clowns like Ginger Taylor at Age of Autism, who say idiotic statements like this:
Yet “science” has never done a simple study that took a large group of vaccinated children and a large group of children whose parents chose not to vaccinate them, and compared them for autism incidence!
You mean scientists have never done a study like this one right here that you’ve known about for some time? But let’s be honest here. All we really needed was this study here. But of course that’s not good enough for you. BIG SURPRISE. What you want, scientists can’t give you because it’s either unethical or impossible to acheive.
Your ‘skeptic’ community’s message to the public and parents like me? “You are an idiot and we have nothing but contempt for you.
Has it ever occurred to you, Ginger, that we think you’re an idiot because you are in fact an idiot, and that it’s for that reason combined with the fact that you’re doing demonstrable harm, that we hold you in contempt?
Vaccines save lives. And we’re getting better and better at manufacturing them.
