Set your doomsday clocks to May 21, 2011

Nine months, 23 days. That is when the world will end. That is if you believe the claims of a batshit insane group of Christians. This is hardly the first alleged doomsday date humanity has survive unscathed…or you know, without any threat to our survival in the first place.

No, this is not from the same site I wrote about last year that inaccurately predicted The Rapture would happen on September 21, September 23October 21, Fall 2009, and November 11, December 14, and December 21.

Yup, there’s yet another website calling a date for The Rapture. Unfortunately, they didn’t learn their lesson from that other site and have now also declared The Rapture will happen on a very specific date in the very near future. That date is May 21, 2011. This time I’m screen capturing it in all its glory.

God better intervene in the world’s mess! Look around. Everything is falling apart.

    Daniel 12:
8 And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things?
9 And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end.
10 Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

    • mjr256 says:

Everything’s falling apart? Really? Like what? Can you cite some examples?

The sky isn’t falling. In the last 100 years the human lifespan has increased by over 35 years. 100 years ago the average lifespan was only 45 years. Now it’s almost 80. And that number is increasing every year. If it keeps increasing at that same rate, the average lifespan of a child born in 2008 will be 98 years old.

Teen pregnancy, smoke, and drug use have all decreased significantly since the 1990s.
Rates of cancer have decreased steadily in the U.S. for 20 years and it’s not just because people aren’t smoking as much, though that’s certainly part of it. It’s also because new screening techniques that can detect pre-cancerous lesions in the colon and also because of the HPV vaccine which prevents the virus that causes cervical cancer.

Small Pox once killed millions of people per year; now it has been completely eradicated. It literally does not exist anymore.
Since 1990, global poverty rates have decreased by more than 30%. And they’re on-track to have decreas 40% by 2015.

Divorce rates are much lower than people assume, and have consistently dropped since the 1970’s in America. Only 20% of people who got married in the 1980s got divorced.

Violent crime rates dropped 5% between 2007 and 2008. And violent crime rates have been dropping consistently every year since 1993.

The Red Cross collects 15 million blood donations per year. No one is compensated for those donations, except with cookies and juice. People just like helping other people.

In 1970 there were only 400 breeding pairs of Bald Eagles left in America, but the Endangered Species t effectively saved the species. There are now more than 10,000 breeding pairs. During the same time Whooping Cranes returned from a much more serious 50 birds total in the entire world. There are now over 500.

So what exactly is falling apart?

      • GREAT answer, BTW! 🙂

      • shayne says:

        MATT24:
As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to him privately. “Tell us,” they said, “when
will this happen, and what will be the sign of your coming and of the end of the age?”
4Jesus answered: “Watch out that no one deceives you. 5For many will come in my name, claiming, ‘I am the Christ, b’ and will deceive many. 6You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come. 7Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. 8All these are the beginning of birth pains.
9“Then you will be handed over to be persecuted and put to death, and you will be hated by all nations because of me. 10At that time many will turn away from
the faith and will betray and hate each other, 11and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people. 12Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold, 13but he who stands firm to the end will be saved. 14And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.
15“So when you see standing in the holy place ‘the abomination that causes desolation,’ c spoken of through the prophet Daniel—let the reader understand—
16then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17Let no one on the roof of his house go down to take anything out of the house. 18Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak. 19How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! 20Pray that your flight will not take place in winter or on the Sabbath. 21For then there will be great
distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. 22If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but
for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened. 23At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Christ!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect—if
that were possible. 25See, I have told you ahead of time. 26“So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the desert,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner
rooms,’ do not believe it. 27For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the
coming of the Son of Man. 28Wherever there is a carcass, there the vultures will gather. 29“Immediately after the distress of those days “ ‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’d 30“At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory. 31And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens
        to the other.
32“Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 33Even so, when you see all these
things, you know that it e is near, right at the door. 34I tell you the truth, this generation f will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 35Heaven and earth will pass away, g but my words will never pass away.

        The Day and Hour Unknown
36“No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven b nor the Son, g but only the Father.
37As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 38For in the days before the flood,
people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; 39and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. 40Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. 41Two
women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.
42“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 43But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept
watch and would not have let his house be broken into. 44So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Pretty much warns us not to listen to doomsday sayers, and say’s, dont listen to anyone, don’t expect a date. Just be ready for your own expiration date, for that can happen any minute, and that will be your Judgemnet Day. But i’m pretty convinced that these times are tired out, the earth is all but used up by “Our Way of Life” and now BP has a burst apendix in the belly of the planet thats killing everything. Repent, or get ready for hell!

      • Some Guy says:

well, not that im a christian, but my outlook isn’t nearly as optimistic as yours, when i read and see whats happening in the world, i don’t see such a hunky dory world you’re describing. 75% of all countries surveyed displayed alarming rates of corruption, militant action against civilians, forced vaccinations, refugee emcampments filled with disease, famine, starvation…im sorry, but the world isn’t so pleasent for most people.

      • mjr256 says:

I didn’t express an optimistic outlook; I presented facts, facts that demonstrate that the quality of human life has dramatically improved in almost every measurable way. I’m sorry you find reality too “hunky dory” for you.

As for your statistic, I don’t know what your source is but it can’t be a very good one if they’re quantifying such vague concepts as “corruption.” What specifically does that even mean? There’s corruption in every country every day and there always has been. So what? That’s nothing new? You think it was any better hundreds of years ago under a monarchy or aristocracy? If so, you’re sorely mistaken. Corruption is a part of the human condition. It will likely always exist. But our means of sniffing it out and bringing people to justice has greatly improved. Likewise with famine; there’s always been famine and while still a serious problem, we’re acquiring better and better means of addressing it every day.

And I don’t know what you’re talking about in terms of militant action against civilians and refugee emcampments filled with disease. Contrary to the lunatic claims of folks like Alex Jones, no such thing is happening in the U.S. And forced vaccination? Seriously? That’s too stupid to warrant comment. Stop believing every lunatic rant you read on the internet.

I never said the world is pleasant for most people; I listed a series of facts demonstrating how the world is improving. Calm down, Travis Bickle. It’ll be okay.

      • mjr256 says:

Care to correct any of the facts that you claim are wrong with appropriate citations? And no, the Vlog Brothers YouTube page and Nerdfighters websites are quite strong right now, not anywhere near “falling apart.”

  2. Here is an open letter to Pastor Camping:

    Dear Pastor Camping,

I have read with interest your prediction of the rapture occurring on May 21st of 2011. I have to say that I am in complete disagreement with this prophecy and would like to suggest a wager that you are wrong. I would be willing to bet ANY amount of money – name your amount – that the rapture will not take place as you describe on that day. I am willing to contact the media, lawyers, and anyone else who would like to cover this event and validate our agreement.

Please let me know if you are interested,

The “World as we Know it”, ends for hundreds of thousands of people every day. Just read the obits page of any newspaper. For everyone you see there, the world as they knew it has ended.
    So what else is new?
You are just hoping there will be a second coming before you shuffle off. At 89, don’t worry. You’ll get to meet Him face to face soon.

  4. Hank Roedell says:

Didn’t Jesus tell us “no man knows the end, not even the angels in heaven? Doomsday predictors do this to stirr up attention and money. They can’t think of anything constructive in life, so they stirr up attention predicting doomsday.

Sadly to say, there’s always somebody that will follow and support them. God gave us the Bible, all we have to do is read it.

Those who believe in God, and the Gospels will have their place in paradise, but we don’t know when.

  6. Edward says:

When you quote scripture or a ancient philosopher, it’s a “SIGN” that you have no idea what you are talking about. The scriptures can and is interpreted many different ways. Where in the bible does it say anything about the rapture? I will tell you…no where. It’s a lie that was propagated by the thieves, so they can steal the greatest gift of all—your freewill……..but what do you care? You don’t do your own thinking ANYWAY. “BA AA AA AA” said the sheep.

    • mjr256 says:

If scripture can be interpreted and reinterpreted in radically different ways, that’s actually worse for those arguing the validity of the scriptures. I’d be far more likely to believe in an angry, meglomaniacal deity than one who is utterly incapable of making itself clear enough that everyone could understand what it wants. And while the modern narrative of “The Rapture” comes from the authors of the Left Behind books, the Bible of course does make it clear that within the lifetime of those listening to Jesus, he said he would return and end the world. Of course this is as every bit as fictitious and silly as The Rapture narrative you dismiss, so I fail to see any intellectual high ground on your part.

    • kelly says:

I will pray for you. when Jesus does return I pray that you will be ready.

      • mjr256 says:

        And I’ll masturbate for you.

But if you’re so certain, I’ll bet you every penny you own. What do you have to lose?

  7. Brian says:

HAHA!!! That scripture was pretty much plain as day to me. How else can this… “NO ONE KNOWS THE DAY OR TIME THAT THE SON OF MAN WILL RETURN”? How can you f’n misinterpret that? Idiots.

  8. Pedro says:

Fred is right, the earth is crumbling…
In the Greek Interlinear Bible, Matthew 24:36 has a different meaning: “About yet the day that and the hour not-yet-one has-perceived not-yet the messengers of the heavens if no the Father of Me only. It implies that someone will know at sometime.

Personally, I can’t wait. To all those who are getting “raptured” – Can I have your stuff?

    • martin john says:

jennifer your soo dumb “can i have your stuff”one of the stupidest things i have ever seen

      • mjr256 says:

Please explain what is stupid about asking people to put their money where their mouth is? If they truly believe the world will end on this specific date because one guy used tortured logic to arrive at that date from a 2000-year-old text (which he’s already done and gotten wrong once already in 1994), then one would expect that person to have no attachment to their possessions. Otherwise, I think they lack the courage of their convictions.

    • Christo says:

      me too….

  11. Read my lips….Doomsday is not going to happen…nobody knows when the end will come. surviving the storm is all about singing and dancing in the rain.

  12. Thinkingman says:

Really, at what point do you just stop waiting for the world to end simply because it’s written in a book almost 2,000 years old? People then didn’t know what the stars were. They didn’t know what caused the wind, or thunderstorms, or lightning. Any hardships – like famine, earthquakes, and floods – were presumed to be punishment from some higher power for the misbehavior of man. We now know this is not the case – it is the result of random interactions of atmospheric conditions, topography and the sun. At least most of us do.

The world has been around for billions of years, not seven thousand. If there is a God, he created bacteria, germs, dinosaurs, small mammals and various primates before he created even primitive man. Why? If he was a supreme being who created man in his image, why the millions of years of practice? None of this is accounted for in the bible, because they had no idea any of it ever existed.

As for not knowing when the end comes, but to always be ready, that sounds like a pretty iron clad way to perpetuate a religion without ever having to reveal a shed of evidence. Ever notice that many people in the bible were able to witness “miracles” to solidify their faith, but no one since has received the benefit?

How many millions have lived and died under defunct gods? Let it go and just enjoy your life. If you want your world to end you will likely make it happen one way or the other.

    • kelly says:

      Thinking man,
When people are missing and chaos all around. Remember that people warned you that you need to be ready for Christ second coming. Jesus is waiting for you to call on his to save your soul from the horrible things that will come to pass. I will pray for you.

      • mjr256 says:

Well none of that has happened and there’s no good reason to believe it ever will. But by all means, keep waiting forever. One born every second.

      • Hautedawg says:

        Kelly,

The bible was written by man, re-written by man and changed by man to suit the needs of the man who changed it.

You argue an invalid point. Unless you read the bible as it was written (doubtful) in the original language and were able to interpret the verbiage, you have no idea what you are talking about. While I am a Christian, I’m afraid you are just proving ignorance. Sorry.

  13. triggerfish says:

Mr. Camping, nor “his” followers will be convinced they are wrong until May 22, 2011.
I pray they have the faith and humbleness to continue in loving and worshipping the Lord Jesus Christ who will come at a date and time unknown to mankind. Even Mr. Camping said we cannot understand God, so how does he come to understand God now? Confusing to me.
The Holy Bible is His Word to help us understand in our simple minds. Simple faith, reverent worship and love for God and each other.
May the peace which passes all understanding be with us all.

  14. alex says:

wow… this man (of course) made a mistake on the first stupid statement that the world was going to end in 1994. now, he is certain (again), that the world will end this year. whoever listens to a dumbass who was wrong once before about such a profound statement, who is 89 and probably suffering from DEMENTIA, is too, a dumbass. no one can make such statements by doing math from the bible. there is 1 bible. 1 plus 1 equals 2. 2 multiplied by 1000 is 2000. 2000 plus 11 is 2011. see what I did here? idiots.

  15. jesus007 says:

Get a life peepsits time everyone got a wake up call-the only way to find out is wait for the day to come.
All you guys appear to be in denial about this.I believe that something significant will happen on this day.The calculations figured it out-unfortunately not everyone will be prepared,I guess the fact that the human brain and spirit has the capacity to code this event is phenomenal and I give credit to those scolars warning us to prepare -the only reason god did not reveal this is that he wanted to catch you red handed or we would have come to earth to fail yet again.come on peeps ,lets prepare the nation to al least take this a little serious supposing no one knows that time or date at least show that you are willing to accept Jesus when he arrives-I am trying to yield my spirit to his very presence.Amen

    • mjr256 says:

You mean more significant than the last time Harold Camping predicted The Rapture back in 1994? I’ve seen Camping’s calculations. They’re nonsensical and his Iron Age mythology book has not been demonstrated to predict any future event ever. Nor is there any reason to believe its authors had any greater ability to foretell the future than any living today. But if you are so confident you’ll be flying off into heaven on May 21 and us non-believers won’t, can I please get your money…since, you know, you won’t be needing it. I’m going to need that money after The Rapture and Jesus demands you must give everything away to follow him anyway.

  16. bj says:

Concerning the rapture:The Bible says in Matthew 24 that the coming of the Lord will be as in the days of Noah, they were eating, drinking, marrying until the day that Noah entered the ark.The flood came and took the unbelievers away.It wasn’t we believers that were taken, it was the sinners.Yes, Noah was protected in the ark but he was still around when everyone else was gone.Do you still want to be raptured? I may be wrong, but I just want to be with JESUS!!!!!!!

    • mjr256 says:

You left out the part about the angels fucking people and creating a race of giants (Gen. 6:1-6).

      • bj says:

I didn’t forget about the FALLEN angels. They were the reason for the flood. They were disobedient.God destroyed them.

      • mjr256 says:

And yet the inclusion of a literal race of giants doesn’t seem to affect the plausibility of the story in your eyes…which speaks volumes. On a related note, I’ve got some magic beans to sell you.

  17. bj says:

Hey,It doesn’t matter whether the giants are literal or catagorical. If they are catagorical,it means they stand for something larger than we are,but if they are literal,it sure explains a lot of things such as who built the Pyramids?I believe in God,and I believe his word, and if you don’t then I don’t see any use in this discussion. As for the magic beans, keep them you need them more than me.

    • mjr256 says:

It matters for the story to actually make any kind of sense. Then again, even a literal race of giants doesn’t in any way justify genocide to anyone other than a sociopath. Further, giants don’t explain the pyramids, which were built by ordinary-sized humans.

      • bj says:

First of all,to argue about giants, literal or not is in itself senseless. It just causes arguments and derision.furthermore,I have no idea what the Nephilim of Genesis and genocide have to do with anything.and as far as the pyramids are concerned, there’so way an ordidary person could have made anything that big with stones that size with the knowledge and tools that they had. These giants were the offspring of fallen angels and humans, but once again,if you don’t believe the bible, this will mean nothing to you.

      • mjr256 says:

Well, yes, until someone can actually present a literal giant (which is the sole reason the Bible gives for the flood), it’s a pointless discussion. Though the fact that the Bible makes repeated references to literal giants, literal dragons, literal witches, and literal unicorns speaks volumes about the level of reliability one ought to ascribe to it given that all of these are entirely mythical creatures. Of course all of this avoids the real issue addressed in this article, which is the claim that the biblical Rapture is at hand. And if it is, then whether we argue or not makes no difference anyway.

Now with regards to the pyramids, there’s no mystery. We know precisely how the pyramids were almost certainly built and many have sufficiently demonstrated that it can be done using the same simple tools that were available to the Egyptians at the time: levers, pulleys, and raw man power. Your personal incredulity does not define the possible or the impossible. The fact is that they had both the means and inclination to build the pyramids, they did so, and they did not suffer the same failure of imagination as you. Though I do find it curious that you regard human beings simply collaborating on a building project hard to believe and yet the notions of a race of giants constructing a building with doorways too small for them to enter and a magical deity with infinite power sound perfectly plausible to you…especially when Genesis itself describes a far more ambitious human building project during the same era.

And lastly, if your criteria for persuasion requires the person to already believe the very thing you’re trying to persuade them to believe, your time would be better spent chasing your own tail because that’s circular reasoning.

  18. bj says:

once again, all this stuff does’t matter.I’m not trying to to persuade anyone to believe me.I don’t care if you believe me or not.I belive in God and his son Jesus and his word[the Bible]and that’s all there is to it.It’s been very enlightening talking to you,I will be praying for you,but I don’t see any point in continuing to converse.I stand on everything that I previously said.I pray that God will forgive you, for you know not what you do.Oh, before I forget, try reading the New Testament for a change,it just might be enlightening to you.

  19. mjr256 says:

Thanks but I know exactly what I do. Though if you insist on praying for me, I’ll masturbate for you and we’ll call it even. And while I appreciate the condescension, I’ve read the Christian Bible several times, which is a large factor in why I’m an atheist. Now isn’t it about time you read the whole thing from beginning to end too?

  20. Trukhleo Zacharias says:

Concerning the deluge on May 21st and Oct 21st 2011…the standard wisdom is this – that if you are a believer in the Word of God, then God has nothing further to prove to you on any material level. However, if you vehemently disbelieve, predictions of God’s chosen prophets will stand true against you. A material revelation and second coming of the Christ is never to any sinner’s interest. This would be a very leftward phenomenon and greatly ironic. It does not happen that way…and this is so as the integrity of faith may be preserved. This is consistent with Einstein’s Principle of Mass Deception…i.e. central error is necessary to an end total identity. A material revelation of the Christ is almost always an embodiment of error which stands as a warning sign that one is in great danger. For a human subject, it will be extremely difficult to separate Christ as the living light and light as is representative to that which is not in human interest (that of a luciferous nature). It is always wise to accept simple faith rather than to take visual apparitions and second comings of the Christ to task.

    • mjr256 says:

“Integrity of faith”? Who are you kidding, dude? Believing in things for no good reason is not a virtue. And people like Harold Camping have been predicting Jesus would return in their lifetime for the last 1900 years even though, according to the Bible itself, Jesus promised to return within the lifetime of the very people he was speaking to. And these type of prophecies are not unique to Christianity. Many religions are duped into believing their prophets will return at some point. Just Google “John From.” Of course, the newer religions have a slight advantage over Christianity as their “prophets” at least existed in the first place. The same cannot be demonstrated with reasonable evidence of Jesus, as the evidence of his existence is quite poor. There was no place called Nazareth at the time he was said to have been there, nor was there a place called Bethleham at the time. Most of his alleged deeds are plagiarized from earlier Hebrew prophets and almost nothing about him withstands historical scrutiny. The fact that 2oo0 years later, he STILL hasn’t returned is more than sufficient evidence that this is yet another failed biblical prophecy. But feel free to keep waiting forever. While you wait, can I have your money?

Or you can keep misrepresent the thoughts of more secular Jews to try to give the impression that they reinforce your loony beliefs.

Or you can worship me, who can do everything your god can do. Don’t ask me to demonstrate though because that will just ruin the integrity of faith you must have. As you say, it is always wise to accept simple faith.

      • bj says:

MJR256,Atheists always make me smile. All you are doing is fullfilling prophesy. You don’t believe in God because it’s easier not to.God will always make a way for you and other sceptics to scientifically explain everything.why? Because he gave us free will, and he wants us to come to him willingly. It all centers around FAITH.You’re taking the easy way out and fullfilling prophesy at the same time.I don’t know when the end is coming, but I do know that it is.God is taking his time because he doesn’t want anyone to perish. He’s doing it for you dude. It’s easy not to believe in God.If there is no God,then I’ve lost nothing,BUT,if there is a God and I chose not to believe in him, then I’ve lost eternal life in paradise. Not worth the risk to me.I’m a believer. You think I’m weak? It’s when you are weak, that he makes you strong. You think I’m using him because I need a crutch and only weak people need a crutch right? You are probably right, but by leaning on him,I WILL NOT FALL!!!!!! Go ahead, make fun of me if you must, but I’m a believer and that’s all there is to it.Go ahead keep being an atheist, keep fullfilling prophesy, and I’ll just continue to smile.God is merciful, and he’ll never turn anyone away.

  21. mjr256 says:

“All you are doing is fullfilling prophesy.”
Then we must be doing a really bad job because 1900 years later, prophecy has yet to be fulfilled.

“You don’t believe in God because it’s easier not to.”
No, I don’t believe in your tribal god for the same reason you don’t believe in anyone else’s tribal gods, lack of evidence.

“God will always make a way for you and other sceptics to scientifically explain everything.why?”
Such a god who would deliberately fool people to lure them into a trap where they’ll be tormented for all eternity seems like a pretty sadistic deity.

“Because he gave us free will, and he wants us to come to him willingly.”
I don’t think you know what the phrase “free will” means. If I tell you to obey me or else I’ll fucking blow your brains out, that is not “free will.” That is called a threat. Fortunately I’m unimpressed by threats from non-existent entities with no ability to follow through.

    “It all centers around FAITH.”
In that case, I have something to tell you. I am Jesus. SURPRISE! Now before you object, remember now. It all centers around FAITH.

“You’re taking the easy way out and fullfilling prophesy at the same time.”
According to you, my actions lead to an eternity of suffering regardless of whether or not I’m a good person simply because I didn’t suck up to god the mob boss. Some “easy way out.”

“I don’t know when the end is coming, but I do know that it is.”
The word “know” is utterly meaningless if such alleged knowledge cannot be demonstrated. You, like the millions before you, BELIEVE it will happen; you don’t KNOW it.

“God is taking his time because he doesn’t want anyone to perish.”
Too late. OOPS. If that’s his goal, according to your religion, he’s already failed. So why follow a failure of a god when you can follow Zeus instead? Now that’s a god who knows how to get things done.

“He’s doing it for you dude.”
No, according to you, your tribal god literally designed a system meant to fool me into an eternity of punishment with that evil science, which would in turn lead to my eternity of suffering, another condition that your tribal god set up. These are not the actions of a loving deity who’s “doing it for me.” These are the actions of a cruel sadist who wants to maximize suffering and get brain dead lackeys who will actually try to rationalize it as a just system. In which case, I reject any god who would inflict pain and suffering for its own pleasure.

“t’s easy not to believe in God.”
That’s the first honest thing you’ve said. It’s every bit as easy as not believing in Santa Claus.

“If there is no God,then I’ve lost nothing,”
Except that you’ve wasted your one and only existence on terrorizing others and making their one and only lives miserable. You must be very proud.

“BUT,if there is a God and I chose not to believe in him, then I’ve lost eternal life in paradise.”
Belief isn’t a choice. You either do or you don’t. You must not think very highly of your god if you think you can fool it into thinking you believe in it even when your every instinct tells you it doesn’t, requiring you to have to go out of your way to “choose” to believe in it. The amazing thing is that no such conscious effort is required for believing things that exist. Nobody “chooses” to believe in hammers. If you don’t, you can just go to a hardware store and see one for yourself. When things exist, they leave copious amounts of evidence demonstrating their existence. It’s usually only ever the non-existent things that leave no evidence of existence.

As for this paradise thing, if you really believe in it, why do you work so hard to avoid it? Why lock your doors at night or look both ways when crossing the street? Why see a doctor when your sick or injured? Why grieve when loved ones die if they just went to paradise? Why live your life like someone who doesn’t believe you go to paradise when you die?

    “ou think I’m weak?”
    No, I think you’re delusional.

“You think I’m using him because I need a crutch and only weak people need a crutch right?”
Nope. You really are a fountain of invented knowledge, aren’t you.

“ut by leaning on him,I WILL NOT FALL!”
But you’ve already fallen…for the oldest trick in the book.

“Go ahead keep being an atheist,”
I’m more than willing to change my mind if presented with sufficient evidence. Are you?

    “eep fullfilling prophesy”
Or you know, not fulfilling prophesy as the case seems to be. A world that hasn’t ended hardly seems like a fulfilling of a prophesy that says the world will end. Kinda jumpin’ the gun there, chief.

“and I’ll just continue to smile.”
So when faced with the belief that billions and billions of people will suffer for all eternity because they were tricked by your god into not believing because your god deliberately created a world that made it, according to you, easy to doubt said god’s existence, your response is to smile?? So you think the perfect moral system punishes otherwise good people simply because they were deceived into not kissing your god’s ass and rewards psychotic lunatics who enjoy endless human suffering. Sounds lovely. If that’s your heaven, I prefer the hell. Better company.

    • bj says:

Well I’m so glad that you prefer hell, because the rate you’re going, you’ll be there before long. You can’t get to heaven on good works.Being a good person won’t do it.You’ve got to believe that JESUS CHRIST IS THE SON OF GOD.This is where faith comes in.If you need proof, you’ll never have faith, because proof is the opposite of faith.Every negative word that comes out of your mouth is fullfilling prophesy, and it is only by the grace of God that you are not consumed. As far as billions of good people going to hell.Salvation is a free gift. It’s available to everyone, but if you reject it,then you have rejected your only hope.Don’t blame God,it’s your own fault, yet,he is patiently waiting for you to give him a chance.Always ready to forgive you,and always offering salvation to anyone who believes in him. FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH;BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.ROMANS 6:23 Too bad you don’t believe.

      • mjr256 says:

Well, no. As I’ve already told you, I am Jesus. I’m sorry you lack the necessary faith to accept that. But don’t worry. I’m not as sadistic as you’d falsely claim me to be, so I won’t send you to hell. Of course, you better hope I, Jesus, am the one true god and that you happened to grow up in the right part of the world at the right time. If you’d grown up in Afghanistan, you’d be just as certain that the Koran was the true word of god. But if Islam does turn out to be the real true religion, we’ll both be roasting for all eternity.

What a crazy system you’ve invented though, where morality is worthless and the only the most sycophantic robots are rewarded, regardless of their behavior, where Hitler goes to heaven but his Jewish victims must suffer a whole other Holocaust involving an eternity of suffering, where the mere absence of torture by a celestial tyrannical mob boss is seen as a gift and where the thought of good people needlessly suffering makes you giddy. And that you would have the audacity to claim that anyone who doesn’t applies the critical thinking skills they were born with and doesn’t believe, or who even dares to object to this celestial dictatorship actually deserves being tortured for all eternity disgusts me. You are like an abused child who is determined to believe that you deserved it for misbehaving.

But let’s just say for the sake of argument that your bullshit view is accurate. If as you yourself say, god is “always ready to forgive,” why not just wait until after I’m dead and then turn into the mindless drone you’ve become after seeing hell for myself? Remember now. God is “always ready to forgive.”
Now I’ve about run out of patience with you so I will no longer allow comments from you and politely tell you to go fuck yourself!

  23. Raj says:

People out there, go on with the arguments (which will be without any outcome). Look up at the sun, soon this mighty object will spew out solar flares which will destroy all our satellites in a matter of seconds. We all will be back to square one! The true fear in all of us will begin from then. Relax and stay tuned.

  24. AirtheBear says:

I wonder now that it is so close to the date as to when the is supposed to happen, if the faith in that it is still going to happen is still strong in the believers?
As well, when the date comes and goes like many others have, what will become of that belief? I notice that every one has a prediction and a perspective on what they believe to be true. But all these are man made opinions. God’s plan is God’s plan, no one can predict that, it’s His plan and His alone. Read all you want and interpret it how ever you want, it’s still your perspective and will never be exact because you are not God. Let go and let God is my opinion. Look to positive side of the earth, we really have allot of beauty on the earth it’s all around us at all times. Enjoy it!!

  30. No Bull says:

God is not a creator; he is a character in a book that was created by religious fanatics. This enabled these fanatics to run ponsi schemes by striking the fear of burning in hell – or promises of life after death in heaven for his followers. Yes, the church, the evangelists and all other religious sects are nothing but ponsi schemers. Shallow are the sheeples who need to believe they are going to a place called heaven, receive 72 virgins or live for eternity. Bernie Madoff went to jail because he promised riches on investments that never were. I liken the bible to these investments -a book written and edited by philosophers (who had interesting imaginations) but nothing factual to prove there is a god. Camping (Family Radio Christian Network) is just another in a long line of thieves who rely on mythological B.S., scheming millions. The real tragedy in all of this is millions upon millions of people have given billions upon billions of their hard earned savings to falsehoods. The notion of a God is the biggest conspiracy of all…
